The characteristics and processing range of cermet insert:

Cermet insert in the hard alloy industry generally refers to TiCN/TiC/TiN as the hard phase, adding Co or Ni as the bonding phase, in many occasions, A tool that adds more than one nitride, carbide and carbonitride of IVB, VB and VIB group metals of the periodic table as an additive to enhance the mechanical and high-temperature properties of cermet.

Features of cermet insert:

(2) Low affinity with processed workpiece materials, not easy to produce debris nodules; After processing the workpiece finish is high, the appearance is more beautiful

(3) Good chemical stability; It is not easy to react with the workpiece.

Suitable for processing range: cermet insert is suitable for processing a variety of steel and cast iron parts of semi-finishing and finishing, when the cutting depth is below 2.5mm, feed per revolution below 0.25mm/r, feed per tooth below 0.2mm/tooth, cermet cutting tool has excellent cutting performance. The above materials can be processed to provide stable tool life and good surface finish. But in the field of intermittent cutting is not suitable for cermet cutting tools, easy to occur blade damage phenomenon.


Note: From the processing material hardness, cermet tool is mainly suitable for semi-finishing and finishing hardness of HRC45 below the steel and cast iron, for HRC45 more difficult to process materials (such as high hardness cast iron roll, high chromium cast iron, high alloy and other materials) or choose cubic boron nitride tool or ceramic tool is better.
